Cocky Eek

Dutch artist Cocky Eek has tried to make knots in space, has swum in the North Sea on a summer night donning a transparent costume stuffed with glow-sticks, and has flown through the air in a 60-foot long billowy white dress pulled only by 6 Coyne kites. In addition to being an artist, Cocky Eek has done extensive academic research on mind-boggling topics such as pneumatology, the architecture of air, and design considerations for inflatable structures. In her project entitled “Kuma-Kuna” Cocky Eek created a series of costumes out of elastic foam and studied their effects on human movement. These pictures are awesome evidence of the new language that is formed when organic human movement is encased in a man-made semi-malleable structure. More pictures after the jump.
